Re: Key Findings From A Survey Of Likely Republican Primary Voters In Tennessee

The Tarrance Group is pleased to present Hagerty for U.S. Senate with the key findings from a survey of voter attitudes among likely Republican primary voters in Tennessee. These key findings are based on telephone interviews with N= 651 “likely” Republican primary voters statewide. Responses to this survey were gathered June 28-30, 2020, and the margin of error associated with a sample of this type is + 4.0% in 95 out of 100 cases.

KEY FINDINGS

Bill Hagerty stands with a commanding +17 lead over the field in the Republican primary election for the U.S. Senate. Forty-six percent (46%) of Republican primary voters indicate they would vote for Bill Hagerty, while 29% would vote for Manny Sethi, and 5% indicate they would vote for George Flinn. There are 2% who would vote for one of the other candidates, and 18% are undecided.
Hagerty has a double-digit advantage on this ballot test among primary voters in both the Nashville, Knoxville, Memphis and Tri-Cities media markets, and absolutely dominates the ballot among the most conservative parts of the primary electorate.
Bill Hagerty is getting over 50% of the vote among 4 of 4 primary voters, 65+ voters, those who strongly approve of the job that President Trump is doing, those primary voters who are strongly pro-life, and those primary voters that get their news and information from Fox News.
Awareness of President Trump’s endorsement of Bill Hagerty continues to grow, and there are now fifty-seven percent (57%) of Republican primary voters across the state who are aware of President Trump’s endorsement. Among those Republicans who are aware of President Trump’s endorsement, fully fifty-eight percent (58%) are voting for Hagerty.
Bill Hagerty is also far and away in the best position of any of the candidates in terms of familiarity and image. Bill Hagerty’s name ID among Republicans across the state is up at ninety-one percent (91%) and there are 72% of Republican primary voters that have a favorable impression of him.
Just as important, primary voters throughout the state also already have a strong sense of Hagerty as a true conservative. Two-thirds of Republican primary voters across the state indicate they believe that Bill Hagerty shares their conservative beliefs and principles.
