Nashville, TN —Bill Hagerty, candidate for U.S. Senate, released the following statement in regard to Metro Nashville Public Schools announcing they will be starting the school year remotely:

“It’s a sad day for Nashville families – our parents and children depend on our schools for education and more,” said Bill Hagerty. “They depend on schools for healthy meals, for a safe environment and for a great education. Online learning is far less effective than in the classroom. Information isn’t being retained and our kids miss out on hands-on learning and peer-to-peer engagement. Also, not every child has access to broadband nor the proper home learning environment – including access to a computer – and they are suffering because of it. So often the American dream is laid with a good education. In my view, it’s not when we get our children back in school – it’s how. America is the most innovative nation on earth, we can figure that out. Other nations already have. I agree with President Trump, it’s imperative that we open our schools safely this fall.”

Hagerty earned President Trump’s “complete and total” endorsement on multiple occasions to be Tennessee’s next United States Senator while serving as the U.S. Ambassador to Japan. To learn more about Bill Hagerty, visit www.teamhagerty.com.
